Confounded Books is a fun little shop full of stuff you never knew you’d be interested in but, oddly enough, find maybe you are. The window sports ; ; ; and . There are R. Crumb comix, , by Colin Upton, Dan Clowes’ series, and tons of other comix (using neuveau-spell, to match the ambience) you never heard of. And if comix aren’t your cup of tea, there are bits of bizarre fiction, items such as the and . It’s a tiny little shop. No comfy chairs. To make up for this, however, there is a vintage Ralph Stedman Dr. Gonzo print on the wall. The novelty section includes some locally- produced two-headed dolls, Zippo lighters and a collection of T-shirts, some of them sporting cartoons by Kaz.
Confounded Books has its own Red Light District, brightly marked off by heart-shaped string lights, which includes the Rack of Sin, Filth and Perversity and the Corruption Shelf. I almost bought a book of photos from the annual Burning Man Festival, but I’d already spent all my money next door, so I desisted. It was still there when I left.
