Castles in Wales

Conwy Castle. What would life have been like for someone waking up to this view? Those crenelations and arrow slits are there for a reason, my friends. This is, of course, an English castle, built to protect the English from the Welsh, not to protect the Welsh themselves. Sometimes I wonder if we are headed back in that direction, with the recent development of gated communities. Would dagged sleeves have made it worth my while to live life as a woman in a castle in Wales? If I see them back in fashion, will it be a sign?
